Our days during this week will be filled with an abundance of water exploration both above and below the surface of the water. As with most of Soul and Sport trips the days journey will begin with quiet meditation, gentle stretch yoga to help elongate our paddling muscles and a vigorous walk or run along the two mile stretch of the white sand beach of Hanalei Bay.
All meals are served fresh by our in-house chef. Enjoy a breakfast of healthy banana pancakes, smoothies, muffins and other abundant healthful entrees. Our kayak exploration week will incorporate many different kayak routes to help hone your kayaking skills. The routes we take will vary in distance, usually starting with our shorter jaunts and slowly increasing the distance traveled as the week proceeds. Again this also helps build our endurance and skill level.
Kayaking can be a gentle flow or take on a more aggressive stance. Our river ventures will explore the gentler nature of kayaking which is consistent with the peaceful flow of the rivers. Enjoy as we cruise down the river with our experienced guides who will help in identifying various tropical plants and birds. Each river has its own personality and beauty, some complete with waterfalls which we will stop to take advantage of on our trip. Lunch will be served picnic style with healthy organic wraps and sandwiches.
When we are ready to become a little more aggressive we will venture out into a few of our favorite bay areas on the north shore. Maneuvering in the ocean bays is a little more technical than the river but very safe in the summer months when the water is normally flat. From the ocean you will gain a new appreciation of the magnificent beauty of the Garden Isle, with its stunning peaks, cascading waterfalls and lush green valleys.
During our bay adventure we will be escorted by our staff marine biologist as we anchor our boats and dive in for a relaxing snorkel offshore. You will have the opportunity to learn from our biologist about the many different species of fish and coral. To further enhance your week of kayaking we will end with the experience of a lifetime; the Napali Coast. This trip has been named the second best adventure trip in the United States by National Geographic. You will experience 16 miles of unbelievable beauty, numerous waterfalls, sea caves, pods of dolphins, turtles, flying fish and miles of turquoise clear blue water. This trip is for the true adventurer in good physical condition.
If for any reason you do not join us on this particular kayak portion of the trip, an alternative activity will be available. To prepare better for this trip it is highly recommended to incorporate some upper body and core strength work for a few months prior to your trip. This can easily be done in the comfort of your home through a series of push-ups, dips and core work. Our in-house trainer will run through a few sessions with each participant during the week. We will also provide you a short program upon registration for this trip.
The week will also include a wonderful deep tissue massage to help you unwind and relax. We will also include various activities throughout the week such as hiking, stand-up paddling which you could do down the river instead of kayak and also experience the respected sport outrigger paddling as a team with all of your new friends.
Time will be taken to hang-out at the beach and play or just take an afternoon snooze. Explore the sleepy town of Hanalei or meander around Princeville on bikes for a leisurely afternoon.
As with all our trips please email us for a complete itinerary or questions.
